Great Lakes General Agency acquires Commerce Insurance Agency

Great Lakes General Agency (GLGA) is pleased to announce the acquisition of Commerce Insurance Agency, effective March 15, 2018. Commerce, a niche MGA specializing in trucking, was founded by Joelle Hayes in 2012 in Elizabethtown, PA. Commerce currently serves retail agents with non-fleet and fleet insured customers located in Maryland, Mississippi, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Commerce’s expertise in trucking insurance, service and dedication to their agency partners make the company a natural fit with GLGA. Commerce will officially operate as Commerce, a division of Great Lakes General Agency until this summer when it will fully take on the Great Lakes General Agency name.

With this acquisition, GLGA appointed agents will now have access to Commerce’s markets in addition to GLGA’s. Commerce’s markets include options for auto liability, physical damage, cargo and general liability coverages in Maryland, Mississippi, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
